About Me
About Me
My philosophy is that my customers' needs are of the utmost importance. I am committed to meeting those needs. As a result, a high percentage of my business is from repeat customers and referrals.
I would welcome the opportunity to earn your trust and deliver you the best service in the industry.
Background
Background
I hold an English degree from the University of Ottawa, and my journey as an Anglophile led me to work in England in 1987, and again in 1989-1990. During that time I took advantage of my location in London to travel throughout the British Isles, Ireland, and continental Europe; I spent a month in Paris and another month on the coast, in Cannes.
Returning home to complete my degree, I worked part-time in a cave à vins in Hull, Québec. As a result of working here, in a pub in London (The Maple Leaf in Covent Garden) and a few other ethnic places, I developed a love of world cuisine. I love to cook, to read about food, and to translate food-related texts!

I am a member of the interpretation team that covered live televised events related to the 2008, 2011, 2015 and 2019 federal election campaigns. Other regular events include the Speech from the Throne, Canada Day events and the Remembrance Day Ceremony (every year since 2007).
Did I mention I love food? I translated À la DiStasio, a cookbook based on a popular cooking show in Québec.
I've also worked on a translation team that produced three other cookbooks.
As for politics and current affairs, I am a member of the interpreting team for Canada's leading television news channel, covering breaking news, press conferences by the Prime Minister and other politicians, and public appearances by The Governor-General of Canada, Presidents Hollande, Sarkozy and Macron of France, Prince Charles, and Queen Elizabeth II, both of whom speak French beautifully. More recently, I interpreted the French parts of speeches given by Prince William, Duke of Cambridge, on his honeymoon trip to Canada. All three generations of the Royal Family!
Other clients include DFAIT (Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade), the Pearson Institute, the UN, UNESCO and the French Department of Agriculture.
I also do medical translation and clients include CHUM (Centres hospitaliers universtaires de Montréal), Ortho, Novartis, Pfizer, GSK and many others.
